Evidence of English Skills
As a requirement of the Temporary Graduate Visa, you must demonstrate strong enough English skills to be successful in the Australian workplace.
Let's begin with who does not have to show English skills evidence. Applicants are exempt if she/he
-
holds a valid passport from the UK, USA , Canada, New Zealand, or Ireland
and -
is a citizen of that country
Accepted English Test Scores
Otherwise, you must provide one of the following documents as evidence of you skills at the time of application. The good news is that the scores are actually quite low.
All scores below must be under 3 years old at the time of the application.
IELTS - either General or Academic:
At least 6.0 overall, with a minimum of 5.0 in any band.
Occupational English Test (OET):
A minimum of at least ‘B’ in each of the 4 components.
Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic:
An overall test score of at least 50, with a minimum score of 36 in each of the four test components - speaking, reading, listening, writing.
Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE):
An overall test score of at least 169 with a minimum score of at least 154 in each of the four test components - speaking, reading, listening, writing. This is the one exam that has a special time frame: the exam must have been taken on or after 1 January 2015.
Please note - As of July 2023, the TOEFL iBT test is currently not accepted for Australian immigration purposes - until further notice
Test of English as a Foreign Language internet-based test (TOEFL iBT):
A score of at least 64, with a minimum in the following: 4 for listening, 4 for reading, 4 for writing, 14 for speaking.
